Occy is known as one of the most important surfers surfing Australia, which is finally nearing the end of his incredible career. After 22 years as a professional, 21 career victories, a title of world champion achieved in 1999 with 33-year-old wants to rest and spend more time with his family.

The 40-year veteran is a person who travels the world with the world championship of professionals. He started surfing at age 9 in Kurnell Queensland won his first amateur competition at thirteen and won two titles cadet, entered the circuit with only 15 years and became the number two ASP circuit with only 17 and its strength on the table completely revolutionized surfing, waves tore his radical style, broke with the more aggressive surfing style.

Just QWS circuit, tercerco, fourth and third again in 1984, 1985 and 1986 when the world title was secured decided to leave the circuit in 1997 QWS disappearing from the professional life.

Despite the years that he decided not to compete for drug problems and almost 100 kilos his sponsor Billabong has always been supporting him and returned to the circuit achieving the title of world champion in 1999.

Occy has returned thanks to his wife Beatrice Ballard who helped him regain fitness with yoga, healthy vegetarian food and leaving drugs and bad life and has become the professional circuit at age 30.
